Yahoo! Go – Java Application for Nokia, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, Blackberry, Windows Mobile, etc.
March 11, 2008
I’ve just recently started using Yahoo! Go 3.0 Beta on my Nokia E61i. Here is the website for Yahoo! Go http://mobile.yahoo.com/go
Yahoo! Go now runs on over 270 phones worldwide, including many Windows Mobile Devices. To see if your current phone works with Go check here

This software is a Java Application so it takes sometime to load and could be buggy at times.
Yahoo! Go website has clear instructions to install this software in the Phone Memory (Do NOT install it in the memory card)

To get Yahoo! Go, point your phone browser to this link get.go.yahoo.com You will then be asked if you want to download Yahoo! Go. Simply follow the instructions and you’ll have Yahoo! Go installed in your phone in no time. This software is free.
You can read more about Yahoo! Go 3 here on AllAboutSymbian.Com http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/reviews/item/Yahoo_Go_Client_v3.php

@DmMaster
The following instructions will hopefully solve your problem:
Hi! Thanks for the appreciation
Before installing any software, one very important thing to do is, in the E61i go to
Menu> App.Manager> Options> Settings> Software Installation
In ”Software Installation” make it ”ALL”, otherwise you will get an error while installing most freeware on the E61i.
Good day!

Hi There,
I too seem to be having trouble installing Yahoo Go! on my Nokia E61i despite having done the above setting “Menu> App.Manager> Options> Settings> Software Installation
In ”Software Installation” make it ”ALL”
I get a message saying unable to install after all the 744kb of Yahoo Go! 3.0 has been downloaded! I cannot understand it. Whats worse, I dont know where the 744kb end up coz they certainly don;t end up in the Application download folder or the installation folder.
Any help….please…..

@Samier
Sorry no idea why it’s not installing on your phone. You’ll have to check with Yahoo! Go developers or something.
As far as the 744Kbs is concerned. If it hasn’t installed then don’t worry, this means that it has not been saved on your phone.
The reason why you cannot see it on the phone is because you have not “Saved” it. Most mobile application downloads do not allow “saves”.
So, while installing, the application stays in a temporary state in the phone and as soon as the installation is over, the file is no more on the cellphone. You will only see the installed application, and not the installer itself.

@Faycel
Hi there! I really have no idea why that’s happening on your phone. I have easily installed Yahoo! Go on my old Nokia E61i, on my new Nokia N82, on the trial Nokia E71, as well as on a friend’s Nokia 6120 Classic phone. Never had any problems.
Why don’t you uninstall it, and then retry again? Did you install it in the Phone Memory? How much Phone Memory do you have left?

@ Moblogpk
Please remember to install this software (Yahoo! Go 3.0) in the Phone Memory (Do NOT install it in the memory card)
Hi, by the time I came across your blog I already had made this mistake. What are the consequences?

@Asim
Yahoo! Go website has clearly mentioned to ‘Install the application in the PHONE MEMORY’, so I don’t know why you did not follow the developer’s instructions.
Consequences of installing the application in the ‘Memory card’ is that there is a big possibility that it might not work properly, hang/restart the phone, or maybe even seriously corrupt your “Memory Card”.
You can fix this:
1) Make sure you have the Memory Card in the phone.
2) Go to “Application Manager”, and REMOVE (Uninstall) the Yahoo! Go software.
3) Then you can reinstall it again to the PHONE MEMORY
Point to Note:
One advice for using Symbian S60 3rd Edition phones is to “ALWAYS INSTALL ALL SOFTWARES & THEMES IN THE PHONE MEMORY“.
Keep the “MEMORY CARD FOR DATA STORAGE ONLY” like Documents, pictures, Music, Videos, Media, eBooks, etc.
*People don’t realise that if applications are installed in the “Memory card”, then the phone has to keep accessing the Memory Card again & again while using the applications.
*It causes the phone to slow down or hang/restart.
*On rare occasions it can corrupt the Memory Card.
*It also causes complications when the person switches to a new Memory Card.
