How to Change Active Standby Screen Shortcuts in Nokia E61i and other Symbian S60 3rd Edition phones
I love personalizing all of my phones, and one of the first things which I did after getting my Nokia E61i was to personalize the Shortcuts in the Standby Screen. Almost every shortcut can be changed to your liking, including the Left and right Selection keys.
In the following screenshot you can see that I have changed the “Left Selection Key to Profiles” and “Right Selection Key to Music Player”. I have also changed all the shortcuts on the Screen to my most used Applications & folders. I have removed the To-Do and Organizer as I don’t use them much. Personalizing the Standby Screen will make using your phone a great experience.

To personalize your Standby Screen go to
Menu> Settings> Phone> Standby Mode

In Standby Mode if you want to keep the Active Standby then turn it “ON“. If you want a clean Standby Screen with no shortcuts, turn the Active Standby “OFF“.

Here you can also change the Left & Right Selection Key Shortcuts to whatever you like.

When the Active Standby is ON>
In Active Standby Apps. you can change the shortcuts that are on your Standby Screen. You can change all 7 Shortcuts.

In Active Standby Plug-Ins you can choose if you want to keep or remove some of the shortcuts like To-Do, Organizer, Mailbox, Wireless LAN, Music Player, etc.

If you “tick” the Act. Standby Mailbox in the Active Standby Plug-ins, then a new option called Active Standby Mailbox will open in the Standby Options screen. In this option you can choose which Mailbox you want on the Standby Screen. This can be either your SMS Inbox, or any of your POP3 or IMAP Email Mailboxes which you created.

You can also use your favourite Internet Bookmarks as Shortcuts in your Active Standby screen. Just follow this tutorial.
Thats it!
Have a great time personalizing your phone.
