Telenor GPRS, WAP and MMS Access Point (APN) Manual Settings

The following APN settings for Telenor GPRS/EDGE Internet, WAP and MMS are for both Prepaid and Postpaid. The tariff for Telenor Internet/WAP usage is Rs.15+15% Tax per MB, which means that it is actually Rs.17.25 per MB including tax.
Example:
Downloading a 3MB file, song or application will cost 3MB x Rs.17.25 = Rs.51.75

Time spent on GPRS will have no impact on the cost. GPRS/WAP is not charged by the minute or duration, but by the amount of Data that is used. So be careful while downloading or uploading large amounts of data.

Configuration for Telenor GPRS

• ACCESS POINT NAME (APN)/NODE: internet
• LOGIN/USERNAME: Telenor (case sensitive)
• PASSWORD: Telenor (case sensitive)
• PROMPT PASSWORD: No
• AUTHENTICATION: Normal
• HOMEPAGE: http://www.telenor.com.pk

Configuration for Telenor WAP

• ACCESS POINT NAME (APN)/NODE: wap
• LOGIN/USERNAME: Telenor (case sensitive)
• PASSWORD: Telenor (case sensitive)
• WAP GATEWAY: IP 172.18.19.11
• PORT (IF REQUIRED) : 9201
• PORT (IF REQUIRED FOR HTTP handsets): 8080

Configuration for Telenor MMS

• ACCESS POINT NAME (APN)/NODE: mms
• LOGIN/USERNAME: Telenor (case sensitive)
• PASSWORD: Telenor (case sensitive)
• WAP GATEWAY: IP 172.18.19.11
• PORT (IF REQUIRED): 9201
• PORT (IF REQUIRED FOR HTTP handsets): 8080
• RELAY SERVER/ MESSAGING SERVER: http://mmstelenor or http://172.18.15.1

Once the APN has been saved, reboot your phone by switching it off, and then switching it back on. This will clear out your phone memory and ensure that your new APN is picked up for usage.

Now that your phone is rebooted, you need to test the APN and see if it is setup correctly. Open the web browser on your phone and connect to http://telenor.com.pk

If the website does not open up successfully, you have not setup the APN correctly, or you do not have GPRS access on your phone. Contact Telenor Pakistan helpline (345) or visit the Telenor Pakistan Walk-in Center.

Receive Telenor GPRS, WAP and MMS APN Settings via SMS.
You can also Send a text message to 131 with your handset make and model to receive your handset settings automatically. For Example if you have the phone Nokia E61i,

For GPRS Internet
Write “Internet Nokia E61i” and SMS it to 131.
For WAP
Write “wap Nokia E61i” and SMS it to 131.
For MMS
Write “mms Nokia E61i” and SMS it to 131.

Nokia E71 a reality! Update: Review & Pictures available. Official announcement expected soon.

After months of hearing rumours and gossip from all corners of the internet, we finally have some good news. The people at boygeniusreport.com luckily got a Nokia E71 and have also reviewed the smartphone! So now we know that it’s real and not a hoax

The Nokia E71 is the successor of Nokia E61i, Nokia E61 and Nokia E62. It has not been officially announced as yet, but we can expect an announcement any day soon. Lets hope that it won’t be a long wait.

I’m already in love with it

The Nokia E71’s specifications (not official yet) show that it has the same large capacity battery of 1500mAh as the Nokia E61i. It is a Quad-Band GSM EDGE phone with WiFi, GPS, 3.2 Megapixel Autofocus Camera etc.

The Nokia E61i and Nokia N95 8GB both have large 2.8” inch screens, this means that to make the E71 more portable, Nokia has slightly decreased the size of E71’s screen. That’s a bummer! I really enjoy the large screen of my E61i (which for me is a must). Well, apart from the screen size drawback, everything else about the E71 looks great. When Nokia E71 will be officially released in the market that’s when we will find out, through user opinions, what the phone is really like in daily use. I’m eagerly awaiting its release & hoping that it’ll be available at a reasonable price

Get your SIM Ownership Details Verified now!

Even though I’ve seen this PTA (Pakistan Telecommunication Authority) advertisement in the newspapers from time to time since the past few months, I didn’t give much thought to it as I was sure that all my sims were in my name.

According to PTA, they are going to block around 6.5 million unverified SIMs. A total of 1,020,874 (more than one million) unverified SIMs/Connections have been blocked so far.

Just for the heck of it, I checked the ownership of the SIMs this week and I got the shock of my life. One of my years old Mobilink SIM was registered in someone else’s name (only the initials) and that too with incomplete details! It was the perfect candidate for getting blocked.

I really wonder why the ownership was not in my name, because I remember providing Mobilink with all the necessary documents when I got the SIM.

Anyway, as I did not want to risk losing my number, I immediately went to Mobilink’s Office with the SIM, my Original Identity Card along with a photostate copy of it and got the ownership details corrected.

To see your SIM Ownership details send a Blank SMS to 667.
