Dear Sirs,
I wonder if at all there is any one to monitor the impropriety being promoted by the Telenor Pakistan through their indecent ads on TV channels. Norway’s media, for evident reasons, is disliked by a common Pakistani for their role in projecting defamatory cartoons. Now the Telenor has, for quite some, launched the campaign of showing a series of lewd ads, depicting wayward youths soliciting foul play remarks like “New connection” and “Activation”. The past ads, released from Telenor on TV channels, also contained such indecent episodes that one feels ashamed to view sitting with his family.
It is very distressing that national channel like GEO has also no code of ethics or self-censorship and is accepting such distasteful ads, simply for the lust of money.
I know my voice will be unheard in this enlightened society but I will ask the Muslims at the helm of affairs (working with Telenor, Geo, Perma, production agencies and other concerned quarters) to realize what service they are rendering to the nation with regard to character building?
Majid Qureshi,
Gulshan-e-Maymar,
Karachi.
