Nokia Officially announces the Nokia E71 – World’s thinnest QWERTY Smartphone
June 17, 2008
We already knew *almost* every tiny detail about the Nokia E71 through all the leaked pictures and specifications, but now we finally have the official announcement. Yes, the Nokia E71 is here!
Here is the Official Nokia Press Release about the Nokia E71.
Nokia E71 is going to be released in 2 colours, Grey Steel and White Steel.
There are some great reviews by Mobile-Review and AllAboutSymbian.
Check out the views about Nokia E71 in Mobile-Review.com
And here is the complete review of Nokia E71 in AllAboutSymbian.com
This picture shows the Nokia E61i side-by-side with the White Steel version of E71. Personally I like the Grey Steel colour.

After reading both the articles I’m getting double-minded about moving to the E71. I absolutely love the large 2.8″ screen of the Nokia E61i, and just thinking of going to a 2.36″ screen is putting me off. Plus, the keyboard’s CTRL is now a Function, so it needs a click on the Fn to work, this isn’t such a big deal, but it’s something which I don’t like, as I use the Copy-Paste function on a regular basis. Maybe I just like the E61i too much to move to something else!
Other than these small hiccups, everything else about the Nokia E71 is wonderful. It’s got S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 1, Built-In GPS, GPRS/EDGE, WCDMA, HSDPA, Wi-Fi, 802.11b/g, CPU 369 MHz, 3.2MP camera, Bluetooth, Micro USB port, support for Flash Lite 3.0 (means that you can now view YouTube videos in the Built-In S60 browser), VoIP, Music and Video Players, POP3/IMAP4/SMTP Email Support, and a long-lasting 1500mAh battery.
For more specifications of Nokia E71 click here forum.nokia.com/devices/E71
It’s still going to take some time till it is released in Pakistan. So for the time being, I’ll keep checking different reviews about it.
I’m actually looking forward to the Nokia 5800 ExpressMedia/Music phone because of the large touchscreen. I don’t know which one I’ll get. I’m torn between my love for large screen and a QWERTY keyboard. Choices, choices !

Hi ese.
I hope you’re fine. Nice to see you here again. Yes, the Nokia E71 is absolutely beautiful, and to top that it’s getting excellent reviews. Everyone likes it.
Copy-Paste function works well in Notepad, SMS, Emails.
Use the UP-ARROW Key to select the text with your D-Pad.
Ctrl + C to copy
Ctrl + V to paste
Note: (UP-ARROW key is the second key from the left, bottom row.
Or the Second key from the right, bottom row)
To use Copy-Paste in the QuickOffice Word files:
Open the QuickWord document,
OPTIONS> “SWITCH TO EDITING MODE”
Select Text with the UP-ARROW key and D-Pad.
Press EDIT> EDIT> and you will see options saying “CUT” or “COPY”
Here is an excellent guide to using Shortcuts in the Nokia E61i

please tell me about Nokia E61, E71, And E81 Prices please if any one know about these prices in pakistan please soon
13.
Moblogpk | July 21, 2008 at 4:04 am
@Ahmad Zai
Nokia E61i is available for Rs.26,000 – Rs.27,000, but stocks are limited, as the new Nokia E71 is just about to get released in Pakistan.
As Nokia E71 has still not been released in Pakistan, we don’t know the price. Wait for another 2-3 weeks for an expected retail price.
I have not seen any Nokia phone called E81.

@Anas Mahmood
There is no answer to the question “Why”. Everyone has different needs and requirements.
It’s great to have choices. More companies means more variety.
Just like you find Chinese-made phones fits the requirements for your use, the same way other people find that their needs are met by these other companies.
Enjoy your phone whatever it is

@moblogpk
hi there. my precious E61i is acting funny again. my emtube wont work, it searches for the videos alright and then it refuses to play the video . “cannot play file format”. so i try to download mobitubia and it tells me the certificate is expired or corrupt.
any ideas would be most wellcome.
oh before i forget , i did the darndest thing and deleted the original emtube i had. (oops)
25.
Moblogpk | November 12, 2008 at 12:38 am
@Ese
Hi there!
emTube isn’t working on my side either. For MobiTubia, simply change the date of your phone back to 2007 and try reinstalling.
I have also sent a detailed email to you.. LoL.. took me well over an hour just to write it.
I think it’ll help in fixing a few issues which you’ve been having.
Write back if you don’t understand something or need more help.
Take care!
P/s: Remember to remove the charger from the Nokia E61i while following the tutorial!

what a wonderful site – for mobile phone enthusiasts as the lack of after sales support in this country otherwise is a joke -ive had the e71 since august and havent loved a nokia phone to this extent in a while especially since e51s build quality wasnt examplary. One problem has been a causing me slight nuisance though -as soon as the phone restarts it goes onto installing some software, i suppose and then gives a msg saying could not complete via the memory card try unstalling thru the phone or something and the lack of blackberry connect means you cant push your hotmail onto the e71.
I somehow ended up with the arabic keypad since i wasnt aware of the second version but cant complain aa it works great with the urdu to english dictionary. Would love it if someone could help with the installation issue. Thanks and keep uo the great work

Moblogpk | November 25, 2008 at 9:24 pm
@Ali Reza
Thank a lot for the appreciation about my blog
About your woes with Warrenty, I’m quite surprised as I’ve never had any problems with Nokia’s Warrenty in Pakistan for over 10 years. I’ve always been given excellent services by the Authorised Nokia Dealers like “United Mobile“. Infact one of my family member had an issue with the screen of a Nokia phone and the whole phone was promptly replaced by United Mobile with no questions asked.
Getting phones from Authorised Dealers is always best. I always pay more to get good Warrenty of either United Mobile, Advance Mobile or i2
The installation issue which you are having is because you must have installed some application on the Memory Card.
I ALWAYS advice to install application, themes and games in the PHONE MEMORY.
Keep the MEMORY CARD to store your Documents and Media files only…. NOT for installation.
Problem with installing softwares in the “Memory card” is that there are lots of hidden files which get installed in the “Memory Card”. When you start an application on the Phone, the Application has to start accessing the Memory Card, and it keeps going back and forth.
So if you ever change the “Memory Card”, or mistakenly delete some important folder, you will get errors like the one you have mentioned.
To fix this issue, you will either have to do a complete Reset of the phone and format the Memory Card. You will LOSE ALL DATA (All contacts, sms, mms, applications, documents, everything will be gone)
Or, try finding out which software is causing the problem, and do a reinstallation on the PHONE Memory. (This might not work)
So ALWAYS remember to do all installations in the PHONE MEMORY
About Push Email, whether you have “Blackberry Connect” or not, it makes no difference, as Free Hotmail does NOT allow emails to be pushed.
Blackberry supports Gmail, ISP-based, and organizations emails.
You can easily Push your Gmail mails to your phone through Nokia’s Beta Email free Push Service.
https://email.nokia.com/
And you can also use Emoze Free Push service
http://www.emoze.com
Or if you like, you can use Nokia’s Built-In IMAP email client
http://mobilepakistan.wordpress.com/2008/01/19/setting-gmail-imap-in-e61i/

ali reza | November 25, 2008 at 10:35 pm
thanks for the prompt reply i did figure the issue was due to a broken installation on the memory card thus going to be careful in the future for now im gonna let it stay the way it is and then sync the data to the pc and reset the phone but im even having trouble with youtube as it goes cannot connect after i press on watch video things worked fine with the e51 but on this machine im having trouble with youtube and mobilink tv services your help is appreciated

Hi there.
Got a quick question for you.
How do i delete saved videos on mobitubia.
36.
Moblogpk | November 27, 2008 at 5:54 pm
@Ese
I also faced the same issue of deleting stuff from MobiTubia, but its very easy to fix. There are 2 ways you can do this:
Hi
Option 1:
Use emTube to view & delete the files.
Go to emTube> Saved Videos> Options> Scan drives for FLV Videos.
After the list of videos shows up, you will notice that the names of the files are gibberish. The only way to figure out which file you have to delete, will be to view the video & then delete them (That’s how I do it)
I’ve also noticed that emTube has better sound & video quality than Mobitubia, so having emTube installed is good for viewing .FLV files.
Option 2:
Go to File Manager, and search for the folder that you have saved the videos in. (I don’t like doing this, as the names are really weird and I can’t figure out which video I want to delete)
I wish emTube would start working again. It was the best application for YouTube.

Any help with youtube؟ it goes cannot connect connection timed out
38.
Moblogpk | November 27, 2008 at 11:04 pm
@Ali Reza
I cannot help if you do not provide any details. I usually replicate the problem and then try to find a solution. I have no idea what issue you are having right now.
Please mention as to which Application you are using to view YouTube and which options you have selected in the applicaton. If it was working before, than what changes have you made after which this problem started. Also mention if the Application is Installed in the Phone Memory or Memory Card, etc.
