Fring Mobile Messenger – Free Application for Nokia 5800 XpressMusic
March 7, 2009
The long wait is over ![]()
Fring for the Nokia 5800 (Symbian S60 5th Edition) is finally officially here!

Fring is one of my favourite free mobile messengers for chatting. The interface is simple and the application itself is extremely easy to use.
It lets me stay connected to multiple Messengers at the same time, specially Skype, which most other free messengers miss out on. I can easily update my Twitter (Chat Only) through Fring, and another really nice feature is that it also notifies me of any incoming Gmail mails.

Fring works with
Skype,
Windows Live Messenger / MSN,
Google Talk™,
Yahoo! Instant Messenger
ICQ,
AOL Instant Messenger / AIM®,
SIP,
Facebook,
Gmail Notifier,
Twitter,
Orkut,
Yandex.mail,
Last.fm

Fring new edition probably resolve the SIP devices issues, The issue occurs in case of using two VoIP application at the same time. Was using Vopium and Fring at the same time on e51 and fring get stuck while loading

Me again.
lol.
Got fring for the 5800. The typing’s a bit tricky. You type, then you still have to go to options to select send before the person you are chatting with can see what you’re typing. It’s a bit slow.
The Last.fm application is truely cool . It drags the battery life to shreds on the 5800, but on the E61, it’s a bit better.
Good thing is they actually tell you it’ll take a toll on the battery life so at least you are prepared. Still, it is a great addition to fring.
Any news on the N97?

@Ese
Hi there! Yes, it’s a bit tricky typing on touch-screen, specially if a person is used to physical QWERTY keys like the E61i, but it’ll get better with practice I hope
N97 is expected to launch in June or July, and I think by October it will be easily available everywhere. Let’s see what happens.
I’m also looking forward to the two new Slider QWERTY phones, the Nokia E75 and Nokia 5730 XpressMusic. Both these phones look very promising, and are reasonably priced too, but no touchscreens on either of them.
Added your yahoo ID to my messenger too
P/s: Hopefully the problem you were having about watching videos on the Nokia 5800 was solved. I gave a URL to a really good tutorial on AllAboutSymbian’s website in my last reply.
Take care & have a nice day!
