Nokia already has an excellent Built-In WLan Search Client which scans hotspots and shows on the Standby screen if it finds one, but sometimes it’s just not convenient to keep taking out the phone again & again to check it, infact I think it’s really annoying. Now here’s where the free HandyWi application comes in handy!
What differentiates HandyWi from Nokia’s Built-In Client is the way it alerts you with a Beep/ring whenever it finds a hotspot! Nokia’s Built-In Wlan Search Client does not have this Beep alert feature.

HandyWi allows you to connect easily to WLAN 802.11a/b/c/g hotspot including public WiFi networks FON (world largest WiFi network), BTOpenzone, The Cloud, Japan Telecom, KPN and many others.
HandyWi’s stands out specially when using Public WiFi Hotspots as with HandyWi you can bypass default router login page (large HTML) and get connected in a few seconds.

Even though I hardly use WiFi, I still have HandyWi in my Nokia E61i to use it when I feel there might be a Hotspot nearby, I enable it and let it do its work to alert me automatically with a beep. This little feature saves me the trouble of constantly looking at the screen to see if the phone has found any Wifi Hotspot or not. For me this single “Beep Alert” for WiFi makes HandyWi a wonderful application.
So if you are a reguler WiFi user, then be sure to try out HandyWi.
