Opera Mini™ Browser just got better! Beta released - Java Application for Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Samsung, etc.

In my last post about Opera Mini™ (which you can read here) I raved about how good & fast the Opera Mini™browser was. And now it just got even better with it’s new 4.1 Beta release. As this is a Beta release, there might be a few bugs, but it’s so good that I’m now using it as my primary browser in my Nokia E61i.

Update May 2008: Version 4.1 is now out of Beta and a final version has been released! :)

Now Opera Mini™ opens up websites faster.

Opera Mini - Java Application for Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Samsung, etc.

Time and again, blogs and websites have written about this great piece of software, and rightly so, because this application deserves all the praise it can get. Out of all the free applications I have used in my Nokia E61i, one of the best and highly recommended free application is Opera Mini™.

It has completely changed my experience of browsing the internet & websites in my cellphone. A lot of people may say “but there already is a Built-in web browser in the Nokia E61i, so why not use that?” Well, the answer to that question is really simple, Nokia’s built-in browser is really good, and it also opens some Flash websites which Opera Mini™ doesn’t, but the downside of Nokia’s Built-in browser is that it gives “Memory Full” error when I try to open heavy websites.

Now, that’s where Opera Mini™ wins. You will never get a “Memory Full” error even when visiting the heaviest websites, and it’s super-fast browsing is an addiction.

Nokia’s Built-in browser opens websites as they are in reality. You can Zoom In or Zoom Out the web pages, but Nokia’s Built-In Browser will not resize the pages, so browsing is usually very slow and causes “Memory Full” problems. Whereas, Opera Mini’s mobile software uses a remote server to pre-process web pages before sending them to your phone. Web content is compressed to reduce the size of data transfers, enabling fast browsing experience at low costs even on simpler phones. The resizing makes browsing faster and this also saves your phone from facing memory problems.

I use both, Nokia’s Built-in Browser as well as Opera Mini™, depending on the kind of website I’m going to visit. But 90% of the time, I go for Opera Mini™.

Opera Mini will save History and it’s extremely easy to create Bookmarks as well.

So, if you still haven’t given Opera Mini™ a try, do it right now, it’s absolutely free and I strongly recommend it.
